Hi guys,

I am using VMWare Go to deploy Hypervisor to a server I plan to run a couple of virtual machines on.
The Spec is decent (plenty RAM etc) and it passed the initial hardware scan and deployed ok, but upon reboot it had a problem with my PCI Network Card.
It said it was already in use or unavailable.....google revealed it was prob unsupported.
Can anyone suggest a decent NIC I could use that would work well with Hypervisor? Low profile would be nice
Intel's Pro 1000 seem to be a good choice but I'm on a bit of a budget at the moment

Got one on the bay :) Dual port Intel Pro 1000
Should do the job nicely, all for 15 notes

Dual Port Pro1000MT for £15 is a steal. Nice one.

Bit late but pretty much all the intel Pro1000 cards are supported by ESXi. I've used the cheaper PCI desktop version the Pro1000GT and PCI-E Pro1000PT in some testing servers before and they worked marvellously.
In theory anything will work, but you have to knock up a linux driver for them and slipstream it into the install. Which is hassle if you're not a linux bod.

Yeah but I just realized it's PCI-X Dammit!! Hoping it'll work in a PCI slot (that'll teach me...)
The HCL is crazy...and they seem to have dropped support for the pro 100 cards completley in the latest release

Some PCI-X cards do fit in PCI some don't, it depends on how your board is laid out and what voltages they use.

If you need PCI look for a Pro1000 GT or a PT (PCI-E)
