I used to use ICQ years ago on my PC, I don't use it any more but my missus has asked me to set it up on our Macs (a Macbook and a Mac Mini) so she can gossip to people.
I had a quick stab at it yesterday, I installed the client, but I couldn't use the utility to create an account. As is the way with ICQ, I just got an error saying "fail" or similar, so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.
I presume I need to set up port forwarding on my wifi router at home, for TCP with the right port for ICQ, and for the right intenal IP address for each Mac (I'm not in front of either Mac at the moment).
Is there also something to set up (or open) on the OSX software firewall?
I'm sure it is somehting really simple that I'm missing, has anyone got a step by step idiots guide for getting it working?
I did a search (here and Google) but couldn't find anything relevant.
Thanks in advance.
