Hey all, kids had a 22" lcd tv for their bedroom for xmas (LG 22LS4D) and i was thinking about linking it up as a second display for their PC. They have the following...

Aopen EZ915-T XC Cube
Intel 650 3.4ghz CPU
2gig Corsair PC3200
320gig Seagate HDD
Samsung SH-S183 SATA 18x DVDRW
EVGA 512meg 7950GT KO

...with my old Hyundai N91W as the main display. Just thinking of them using it for playing films etc mainly (so occasional use) and was wondering if any peeps here had any good hints or tips?. Never setup dual monitors before...
:)

If you have a vga card with dual outputs then just plug it in & enable the 2nd display in display properties. Should not need much more that that.

Yeah just plug them both in to set up dual monitors, then go into the windows display set up bit or nvidia control panel, makes sure the res and refresh rate is set right for the second one and enable it and extend the desktop onto it. After that for films you could just drag the video player onto that screen and go fullscreen for it to fill that one. But you want your old monitor to be set as your main one still? Games will default to that one, wouldn't it be easier just to have the newer one as the main one? Or will it be used as a tv often or something?

As it is a tv and not a monitor do you have all the correct cables for it?

Get yourself a copy of Ultramon and set up a couple of display profiles - then when they want to switch between one and the other monitor, all they need to do is click on an icon, and it'll all be done without having to dive into Display properties each time.
