Hello.
I want to register a domain just so I can get the @mydomain.com email addresses.
Is this as straight forward as just going to Godaddy (or the like), buying the domain that I want and they'll sort me out with email addresses and servers that I just plug into Outlook to get my messages?
Or do I need a server, or some hosting somewhere?

I will only need a maximum of 10 addresses. Just want a few for myself, maybe give one to each family member and a friend or two.

Cheers chaps, I'll go put the kettle on.

you are correct, you just need to purchase the domain and the email hosting (may come included). Depending on the provider depends on the number of mailboxes you get included so you may need to buy more.....

You will need email hosting and I would suggest Google Apps for Your Domain. There is a free option if you dig around the site and basically get complete GMail but with your own domain name.

As above. Just buy the domain and use the free Google Apps email system. You won't need any hosting and Google Apps is guaranteed to be better than email through the registrar.
