Soooo, after having wireless problems I went and bought an access point, a fantastic solution to my problems (or so it said on the box..).

the idea was that the WPN802 would boost or relay the signal from the DG834GT and allow me great wireless from anywhere nearby. I'm not sure if I can have it seperate from my router and use the "enable wireless repeating" ticked or if it has to be connected with network cable to the DG834GT?

Anyway, it's probably down to my incompetance but i'm not getting anywhere! So now, here I am after resetting both devices to factory settings with no security and i'm hoping to get some help.

At the moment my PC is directly connecting to the DG834GT which isn't that far away but we have super thick walls here in this old skool cottage and it's at best unreliable.

So, in comes the WPN802 with it's big flashy blue lights giving it all that - but it's so far useless, it's just well.. flashing a lot. It doesn't connect to my adsl/router (the DG834GT) at all from what I can see. The adsl router doesn't pick it up.

Sooo, a few questions to help me select the correct settings..

1) Should the SSID be the same for both devices?

2) Should the channel be the same for both devices?

3) Should the "enable wireless repeating" be ticked on the WPN802?

4) Should the WPN802 be plugged in to the DG834GT via ethernet?

Answering these would help a great deal, so any replies cherished. Cheers :)

Bah, still no luck. Almost 2 days of fiddling. Tried Netgear help support on a 0870 number, got through to a foreign call center and then after they had no idea what I was on about magically got cut off. Fantastic..

All I want is this Wireless access point to pick up and relay to the Wired access point (ADSL/Router). Surely it can't be that hard...

:(

Awesome, thanks. That's cleared that up then! I'm still a bit miffed that using this new ULTRA RANGEMAX SUPER TWENTY ELEVEN AERIALS Netgear access point wired in to the DG834GT gives no more strength than just unplugging it and enabling the wireless on the DG834GT itself.. I though using it as a 'replacement' aerial would yeild much better reception?
