Setting up network connections in ubuntu

Hi ive just installed ubuntu on my secondary rig (e4400, 2gb ram, 8600gt) i must say im very impressed so far everything seems a lot more cleaner and responsive than windows. But as a linux n00b ive got a question:

I currently have a Belkin USB wireless adapter, how can i get this to work with ubuntu and connect to my network?

It matters what chipset is used inside the card. Open up a terminal and run

lspci
lsusb

and paste the results here.
