Hi Everyone,

I remember that there were some considerations to take when setting a SSD in order to optimise it. Cloning the O/S and transferring it over to SSD.

Can someone tell me if it is necessary these days and/or point me at a thread that would be useful for someone in my position.

Regards
Scott

It was set to IDE if I remember correctly. Also my windows 7 is running slow and is on a much larger drive than the SSD. Would it be best to start out from new and install ( set to AHCI) all the drivers and programs then clone it over? Or maybe just install everything as you would on a HDD replacing it with the SSD set on AHCI?

Thanks for the advise - I'm going to install from new and keep the old O/S drive unplugged till such a time as I need it. Once I have a full running and all installed (drivers and programs) version of W7 then I will make an image of this and save it in case I ever need to re-install my SSD.

Are there any other tips you or anyone else might have that are useful for a healthy SSD O/S drive?

Regards Scotty
