i have 2 7800 gtx,s but not sure if they are set up right....basically i use it for gaming and not sure what settings that are supposed to be used ie:anistropic filtering and stuff...any advice would be greatly welcome

my system spec is:

3700 amd
2 gig of mem
raptor hard disk
hyper r 560w psu
asus a8n motherboard
audigy 4 sound card
7800 gtx,s 256.....using 91.33 beta drivers

Whack AF and AA on full :D If games dont support it you can force it in the nvidia options!

<edit> Didnt mean to double post! </edit>

Hmmm..

I assume you have drivers installed? :o

You should force AF and AA to max and run at a decent resolution or your PC will be majorly CPU bottlenecked and thus eliminating the point of having SLI in the first place.

thanks for that it seems to working better now....is there any other things i need to set all....i.e 3d settings sli rendering mode?(set at auto) or performance settings?(set at quality)...render ahead ? (is set at 3) is that ok and such like

Do a little research on what AA/AF, and all the other 'buzzwords' are.

I do have a question though - if you don't know what AA/AF are (or what settings to use), why did you get an SLI system?

Set your SLi rendering mode to Alternate frame rendering. That's the one which gave me the best performance in most games. If you can't select Alternate Frame rendering from the drop down box then you can download Coolbits which unlocks extra options in the nVidia drivers. This will also enable you to select Alternate Frame rendering.

Set your performance to highest quality to give you the best visuals in games. Leave render ahead as it is (default). Set the 3D settings AA/AF options to 'Application Controlled' for the games you play, you can adjust these options in-game. I would only change the AA/AF levels for your games using the drivers if the games you play don't have the options for AA/AF. For other options under 3D settings, try and set them so that you'll get the highest quality picture as possible. eg Set the quality to the highest etc.

The reason why your cards are getting hotter is because AA/AF increase the visuals of the game and make the cards work harder to give this increase. Therefore they end up creating more heat. 78 degrees will be fine for your cards and shoudn't cause you any problems. However, i would look into trying to increase the cooling performance of your case with some better/new fans and a bit of a cable tidy.

Hope that helps :)

thanks for the replies guys....you have been very helpful as always... and game is running better, oh and prettier lol...thnx again

well basically i bought another card thinking it will improve my system and improve my game ....but... i didnt really know much about pc systems then and although ive learnt a lot since then, i still need to learn more...basically i have been running sli for 6 months now without really knowing how they are supposed to be set up and beings i dont know many peeps with a sli system thats why i asked you guys....i used to know a guy in my clan, and he said he would go through it with me step by step but he disappeared lol, thus leaving me scratching my head lol....by the ways guys is there anything else other than aa,af,sli render mode that i need to set up, or anything in bios.....huge thanx again guys

Nope, that's it really. Just fiddle around with the drivers to get it how you like it. You really can't break anything by tweaking, just keep an eye on temperatures then have a go at overclocking :D Read some guides on the drivers - here's a good one
