I have 2 asus 9800GT cards that support sli,

this is my main board:

i have a feeling that although it has 2 PCIe slots, it wont support sli... when i put the other card in the slot it just makes a continious beep at me

Hi,

That board does not support SLI only ATI Crossfire dude. You have to get an Nvidia chipset motherboard with SLI, or go x58 Intel, unless some other guys know of another route.

But below is what I did with my X58 SLI ENABLED motherboard.

Get the latest drivers from Nvidia. Uninstall old ones...

Turn off the power to PC

Fit both cards in each slot

Look in motherboard box for the bridging connector for SLI, should be little ribbon with two connectors

Make sure power cables fitted to both cards

Turn on machine

Install new drivers

Select Sli from one of the options in the Nvidia control panel

Sli should work in supported games now.

Cheers

That board does not support SLI - unless you can find some hack that allows SLI on a 785G then you will only be able to run a single Nvidia card.

VonScar is detailing how he set up SLI on his SLI-enabled board. Nice to know I guess but of no help for you.

Also, your motherboard's second PCI-E full-size slot only runs at 4x speed- so this would bottleneck a second graphics card in most cases. Hence that board isn't a good idea for crossfire either.

Did you buy the board with a hope to SLI? If so, I'd send it back ASAP.

nah, my brother has a simular pc, same gfx card, he aint around anymore so i thought i might as well salvage his pc, if not ill just ebay it in bits.
