I've plugged it and the Windows installer tells me it can't install the controller because the installer could not find the necessary software.

I'm running WIN XP pro with service pack 2.

What can i do to get it installed?

I tried downloading the XBCD drivers but that didb't help it find the controller.

I just plugged my wired controller in and told windoze to auto search for drivers from the pop up box and it all worked perfectly.

You're not using the charge and play are you?

Theres offical software (XBOX360Eng.exe) but it should also just plug and play with plain winxp.

Ive done both, as well as that there is non offical software support that adds things like dead center config.
