Hi folks,

Got a mate who stays quite a bit away so cant just pop round. He's just had Virgin installed at his new flat but his creaky old XP laptop wont run the install CD saying it needs a newer version of IE.

Back when I moved house I dont remember bothering with the CD to install the interwebs but it was that long ago I have no clue what I did to set things up and I know they are handing out different/newer boxes now too.

Is there a manual guide to getting online kicking around on the net or has anyone done this recently and can give me a few notes on what to tell him / guide him over the phone?

Thanks folks :)

R

PS: Its a vmdg480 unit (he just told me)

Its a superhub so either connect via wifi (key is on a sticker on the back) or plug in an ethernet cable and set IP to obtain automatically and off you go

And thats it? Magic.

No need to 192.168.0.1 into it or anything. Ill let my tech-unsavy mate know this :)

Thanks folks - will report success/failure later!
