Before I went and bought a TFT i read lots of articles on setting up and people opting for a professional to set it up and I was thinking can't be that hard ill just drop the brightness down and it be fine.

But im still fussing around with my new 19" WS TFT, maybe its becuase im used to a washed out CRT i cant handle all the bright colours, im having to have the brightness rigth down at 30-40 just to be able to cope with the whites. Even though the other pre set modes look nicer the whites are too strong, and in games like hl2 with the bright lights like the core reactor in episode one its too much, its liek a torch in the eye. Not knowing much about this anyone care to list thier settings just so I get an idea of whats nice looking (i know this is personal opinion) brightness, contrast and sturation.

whats the best method to get it just how you like it?

cheers

Mine was fine out of the box, nothing really wrong with how it displayed. I did turn the brightness down a bit though.

What monitor do you have exactly? Maybe someone with the same or similar one will be able to help with the settings :).

if it's too bright turn it down, simple. no expect is needed as there isn't much to change. you can also change contrast which helps with the white.

on my viewsonic 20.1" ws i have birghtness at just 40 and contrast just above so thats less then half on both. most people turn it down so don't go thinking your doing something wrong.

Yea I was just hoping to maintain the nice look some how but at the same time reduce the brightness of the whites, I know it sounds obvious to just turn the brightness down. I want it looking more like a CRT where you dont need sun glasses on.

edit:at work, they are set to 100% brightness but are nice to look at and must be the colour settings as they are set to 50 on all colours instead of 100 like mine is. sorted
