Doesn't really matter which way around I have it but how can I map the VPN connection I have so I can remain connected to work on one screen and everything non VPN to the other connection. Everything goes via VPN at the moment an obviously thats slower but its also firewall'd so actually cant do anything.

I don't know if this will be possible Johnny boy. I did something similar for a client once but it was 2 ethernet connections involved so it was constant.

What info do you have for your vpn? Do you have the IP address it connects to?

What you're after is 'split tunnelling' that allows you to send your work traffic over the VPN but keep everything else local.
It would depend on the VPN client you're using as well as the settings of the VPN at the far end. If the VPN admin has set it to force all traffic down the VPN or has disallowed split-tunnelling, there isn't much you can do without a second adaptor even then it's tricky.
If spilt-tunnelling is allowed it should be easy enough and it could just be the profile you're using or the client doesn't support it
