Hi I received this cpu today and I don't plan on pc for now but should I modify some settings in the bios for the sake of efficiency / thermals etc.. ?

I left everything stock for the time being but I was thinking of the load line calibration for instance

Also, is it normal that the vcore is stock above 1.3 ?

Thanks

This is the full rig

I do gaming but light video editing noting crazy

fwiw this is what i've gone with so far, running on air (DH15) and i'm into gaming.

Code:
Ai Overclock Tuner [XMP II]
XMP [DDR5-6000 32-38-38-80-1.35V-1.35V]
DRAM Frequency [DDR5-6400MHz]
DRAM CAS# Latency [30]
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay [38]
DRAM RAS# PRE Time [38]
DRAM RAS# ACT Time [80]
DRAM Command Rate [Auto] (G2)
DRAM VDD Voltage [1.40000]
DRAM VDDQ Voltage [1.35000]

BCLK Frequency [100.0000]
ASUS MultiCore Enhancement [Disabled – Enforce All limits]
Performance Core Ratio [By Core Usage]
1-Core Ratio Limit [58]
2-Core Ratio Limit [58]
3-Core Ratio Limit [57]
4-Core Ratio Limit [57]
5-Core Ratio Limit [56]
6-Core Ratio Limit [56]
7-Core Ratio Limit [55]
8-Core Ratio Limit [55]
Global Core SVID Voltage [Adaptive Mode]
- Offset Mode Sign [-]
- Additional Turbo Mode CPU Core Voltage [Auto]
- Offset Voltage [0.03000]

CPU Load-line Calibration [Auto] (level4)

Long Duration Package Power Limit [175]
Short Duration Package Power Limit [175]

If i've not mentioned it above it is likely set to auto or i didn't think it was relevant.

Obviously zero difference in gaming performance (4k) running the above compared with leaving the power limits off and running at 6Ghz on one or two cores (can't remember exactly). It runs silent now at the desktop doing regular tasks and next to silent while gaming.

From a productivity pov, prior to the tweaks Cinebench runs would hit 100c as expected, after the tweaks it tops out at 86c without being too loud (i value a quiet PC).

Overlocked
Cinebench R23 : MC 30054 / SC 2275

Settings used above
Cinebench R23 : MC 28147 / SC 2236

Obviously the silicon lottery is the deciding factor and all this is a work in progress! Your mileage will vary ;)
Interesting!
I have not ran cb23 only 20 and it went to 86c for a sec then settled at 76c. I have to check cb23.

I have some questions

I am using a Ryujin 2 360 with a12x25 fans so I guess I can expect even better thermals?

Whats the difference between xmp 1 and 2?

About multicore enhancements, it's better to turn it off?

You left the e core stock?

What are your gaming temps?

So you let vcore on auto and just use the offset ?

Thanks again!

Oh ok thanks
i've just ran a CB23 multicore at stock settings and got those results :
i guess it's a good base right?
Also i have a weird issue
I've noticed this weird noise.
I tested and it's not a fan, not the pump.
It happens idle too.
What could it be? Coil whine of the motherboard? Is there way to fix it by some some settings?
Its really really annoying..

Not sure if audible.
it's not the fan or the GPu, not sure about the pump but does not feel like it (wasn't doing this on former board)
Could tweaking vcore or llc can help if it's MB coil whine?

I ran a CB23, got 30310 points.
Max temps was 91 for few seconds but it went down pretty quick and average was 76c
i gamed a bit, temps seems ok stock, maw i've seen is around 70c for now but haven't got time to play much.
Does this seem ok?
Not sure i want to go above 5400 but maybe i could use an offset too to lower temps a bit?

Also is the stock vcore normally that high? 1.376?

I've tried to lower vcore to 1.31/ llc auto and R23 passed. I know it's not the best way to test stability and I should do a prime or occt but could it be ok? I'm surprised it passed with such vdrop

Also
I have an issue that I think it's coil whine of the vrm on my board and I read that tweaking this setting can help

However I have no idea what is the stock value on auto and if I should lower it or rise it

Thanks again

What's the best solution
Manual vcore ? Offset?
i've set manual at 1.31 + LLC4, temps are better than stock but I have no idea if i can go lower, vcore went to 1.16 during loads so i guess it's already kinda low without crashing?

Oh OK nice. Do you think my settings are good to go? Temps are good, it's silent and it seems stable

Lowering vcore helped a lot with coil whine

Haven't tried single core yet but multicore was similar, even a bit higher
31030 stock
30163 @1,31

Ahah i had to rma the claymore, the detachable numpad became crazy and typed by itself. I borrowed an ugly keyboard a work its horrible

Oh I was tempted to take the scope tkl but I do use a lot the numpad for work.. Waiting for rma...

When gaming it seems core stays at 5300 but I'll do a single core cinebench as well. Is it more heavy than multicore for stability?

You think I can try lower? 1.16 at load seemed very low to me already, llc is only a stock (4)

But still not sure if its better or the same to have manual vcore or offset

What are your exact settings for vcore / frequency / llc?

I just want to have good performance, low temps and no freaking coil whine lol
