Settings to make voices louder?

Since getting a Sky+ box I've noticed that programs, especially films seem to have the background noise and music much louder than the people talking, is there anything I can do about this either with the Sky+ box or settings on the TV?

Turn the Treble and Bass down, and the midrange up? Cant say I ever noticed that problem with Sky (Sky+, or HD). All depends how the sounds were mixed in the first place.

If your running with a digital AV amp and the digital connector, it could simply be that its not set up very well. Increasing the volume of the centre speaker should do the trick.

Doesn't seem to have an option for midrange (just TV speakers), have turned treble and bass down and will watch a film later. What about gimmicks like 3DSound, should I switch it off?
