Hi Guys i Have 460gtx gainward 1 gig version what setting you recommend having it on? im no good with settings lol

cpu Q9400 2.66ghz
ram 4 gigs 800mhz
psu 850 xfx
460gtx
1680x1050 res
win 7 64 bit

You definitely need to overclock the CPU, or it will bottleneck the GTX460 in games that doesn't use more than two cores.

dude overclocking the cpu wont just use 2 cores it dont make any difrence it will use all 4 still you just get better performance out of it but i dont overclock.

He is saying, that the stock speed of the CPU is going to bottleneck the GPU. Ignore the bit about the cores for now.

i have asus p5n e sli but to be honest surly my cpu speed doesnt effect my gpu?

1.Learn. There are loads of guides to help.

2. Provided you keep the temperatures in check it'll be fine. More speed for no extra money sounds like a no brainer to me.

Why are so many people paranoid of overclocking?! The Steam forums filled with people like you who are scared it will reduce the lifetime of their CPU! As long as you keep the temps and voltages in check, you will be fine. And even if it does reduce the lifetime of your CPU by a few years, I won't make a huge difference, as you will end up upgrading well before that time ever comes!

Do you really think OcUK would sell pre-clocked systems if it damaged your CPU that much?
