What was the better game... Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie? And yes this requires you to have played both games.

Mario 64. It's still the best 3D platformer there is.

Banjo Tooie/Kazooie and Conker's were excellent games, but outclassed in nearly every way.

Mario 64. It was groundbreaking - everything else just followed its lead.

However Banjo-Kazooie was a classic game. The second best platformer on the system.

Banjo-Kazooie was better overall, the extra time and polish that went into it made it the better game to play (plus the end was pretty hard)
