gotta be mario 64. fantastic 3D platformer and I find the experience has yet to be reproduced on any console since. I still find myself enjoying the game these days! Which cant be said for many dated games

Didn't vote as I never played Banjo

I have to say, I prefer 'limited' platformers like Crash Bandicoot and the newer (classic style) Mario games, I prefer little tricky bits instead of huge areas to explore

Mario 64 was awesome when it came out though

Mario of course :D I never could quite get into Banjo :(

On another note, as much a i love perfect dark i still think Goldeneye is the better game. In fact I still play Goldeneye from time to time on my N64 and i still get the same buzz from playing it :D
At the same time i never realised how bad the frame rate was on perfect dark until i replayed it recently (the XBLA version fixed this of course) BUT the multiplayer in terms of customization was well above goldeneye :)

either way they are both great games

Mario laid the foundations, Banjo perfected it. Main reason being the massive improvement in the camera in Banjo. Both were excellent games though and DK64 is up there with them also.

Banjo Kazooie for me, I never really got on with Mario 64. I think a lot of it was down to the fact it was Mario... I just have no interest in that 'world', I was far more taken in with the world of Banjo Kazooie.

Yep Mario set the standard, banjo probably improved it slightly but Mario remains the man. At least 98% of games today are utter garbage. Am waiting for new zelda, need to finish Mario galaxy 2 as well it's all about nostalgia

As Mario was first that was the jaw on the floor moment when that booted up. Banjo was very good but the wow factor was gone due to coming out later.

Mario 64 was one of the best games I've ever played. Banjo Kazooie was fun but not in the same league.

Goldeneye was the best N64 game (as much as it's fashionable to state it regardless) in my book.
