My GF and I have had this argument about a million times since we got together 4 yrs ago.

Her ex boyfriend told her that all cars pull to the left slightly when you let go of the wheel as a safety feature, so that should you pass out at the wheel, the car will edge over the verge/side of the road.

No matter how many times I tell her that if your car pulls to the left, then you need to get your tracking looked at.

Even when I asked what happens when your in the outside lane of a motorway and you pass out and car kindly pulls you accross 2 lanes of traffic?

Even when I asked what happens when your car kindly pulls you towards the pavement where a group of small children are waiting to cross and your car kindly mounts the pavement and squashes them?

Still she is adamant that she is right (women eh!) so please help me!!!

Surely the camber of most roads will make the car drift *slowly* to the left ?

Bingo.

You may be told by garages that cars will pull slightly to the left. This is the reason.

it pulls to the left due to the camber of the road, the alignment can be dead centre, it will still pull due to the curvature of the road. Tell her to drive on the wrong side and feel the pull to the right :p

i've heard this said befor, but tbh it is a load of tripe - as said roads aren't perfectly flat so water flows off them, and thus the car will be acted upon by the camber - try letting go on the wrong side of the road and see what happens.... no wait a sec thats proberbly a bad idea ;)

edit: bah damn ninja posters

Yep, you're both wrong :p If the car pulls hard to the left then you need to get the tracking checked, if it just slowly drifts left once you've let go of the wheel then that's just the camber of the road and nothing to worry about :)

thanks! yeah I knew about the camber of the road, but I meant specifcally that the car shouldnt pull to the left.

oooh I hope not erg! UNCLEAN :)

Was your Ex from near York? and did you fill her head with nonsense?
I've had a couple of birds from around that area, and I've more than once tried (and failed) to get girls to understand how camber affects the drive of a car.

I usually give up and say the car just pulls to the left, deal with it :p

I'm sure we've had this asked on the boards before and i was equally dismissive.
The Only cars that are built to naturally go left are Circuit cars like NASCAR.
Any car on the road that pulls to the left has either got both near side wheels in a ditch or needs mechanical attention.

She gets a  from me and i am right choosey with the old roll eyes :p

whatever you do dont marry this girl :p ;)
If she's been with me she'd be amazing.

Although, just think, that dirty thing she does, Gilly first told her that :p

No, its just that most girls only settle for regularly doing one. I just didn't want all the other things I've done with his bird running through his mind :p
