Going off the back of my earlier thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18558149 - just contemplating some options with regards to my network setup.

As per my previous thread, my freebie Netgear router works fine until you enable it for DLNA and then it continues to go through a cycle of rebooting every 3-5 minutes.

I would like the DLNA/streaming function. So was advised to go for the Asus RT-AC66U (cheers AlecR) which seems like a great bit of kit. However I am wondering if it might be easier to setup the following since my current Netgear router works fine in its current non-DLNA state -

  • Netgear router + 1TB HDD via USB to Powerline 500 adapter
  • WD TV unit 1 to second powerline adapter
  • WD TV unit 2 to 3rd powerline adapter in bedroom

What I am trying to achieve is the ability to access the audio/video/photo content on the 1TB HDD attached to the router via the WD TV unit.

Is the above setup feasible?
