Setup custom screen res in OSX

Hey All,

What is the best way to setup custom screen res and refresh profiles in OSX.

I know there is SwitchResX but that is now a paid for option.

I don't know if it's the best but it's what I use when I want to switch resolution to a custom value. Hope it works for you.

Can you set manual refresh rates as well or just res?

It does offer me screen refresh rates on my external monitor but only one is visible, 60Hz. Give it a try, what do you have to lose?

Installed it and it does show a lot more res options but sadly not the res or refresh I was looking for.

I'm surprised as it seems to have a fairly large range of resolutions - For example, this is my second monitor.

I don't know what else to suggest, maybe someone else has another idea.

OK tried RDM on a 2012 Mac Mini and able to get 2560x1440 @ 60hz which is much better than 1080p, wont give me 4K even at 30hz, previously that involved a hack to force the GPU but really cant be bothered as at 30hz you can notice the lag.
