Dunno wether this should be in the Home Cinema forum or not, but here it goes.
Right, after my new rig is up and running, and my room has been decorated I want to link up all my stuff. As thus I have;
- PC Rig (Powercolour HD 4870 X2 (x2 DVI Outputs)) * yet to buy *
- Sony Bravia KDL40D3500 (2x HDMI Inputs, 1x VGA/3.5mm Input)
- Sony Playstation 3 (1x HDMI Output)
- A new LCD Monitor (Possibly a Dell S2409W 24" (1x HDMI Input, 1x VGA Input, 1x DVI-D Input) * yet to buy *
Right, so the situation is, I want to link the PC and the PS3 up to both screens. The 40" Sony and the PS3 will be in one corner of the room, the PC and the 24" Dell will be in the other corner.
Ideally I would like the link to be just one cable stretching across the room, i.e. the use of splitters or switches etc. but if using two is only possible that would be ok, can always cable tie them together.
I would like it to be relatively cheap-ish, I dunno the exact price I could spend, but I won't be buying things like £100 switches etc. lol
So would something like, this possibly work?:
- PS3 linked to 2 way splitter via HDMI
- Splitter O/P-1 to Bravia 40" via HDMI
- Splitter O/P-2 to Dell 24" via HDMI
- PC linked to Dell 24" via DVI-D
- PC linked to Bravia 40" via HDMI
So that leaves two HDMI cables running around the out edge of my room.
Would running the PC to the Dell via the DVI-D be ok, quality wise, i.e. getting 1080p, compared with I ran it using HDMI. Also, would running the PC to the Bravia with an HDMI be ok, or should I use a VGA and 3.5mm Audio cable so that the PC works on the PC Channel, and not the HDMI 2 channel, or would I lose quality compared with HDMI.
Cheers for any help given.
