Mite be a bit late on this but worth a try... can't really see the point with ivy bridge out soon

Clock bumps are normal as CPUs mature, better process allowing for ever so slightly better performance at the same price, and the lower end models salvaged from otherwise dud units built up (or hobbled good'ens if the manufacturing process is very, very good)

Stolen from Anandtech:

"You may be wondering what the P at the end of two Core i5 SKUs stands for. Intel has not updated their product database yet so we aren't 100% sure, but VR-Zone is reporting that it implies a GPU-less model. VR-Zone is also stating that the i5-2550K is GPU-less as well, which would be a step down from the i5-2500K that features Intel HD 3000 graphics.

This is a logical move as Intel must have a stack of chips with fully working cores and other parts, but the IGP isn't functional. On the other hand, it's good to keep in mind that a disabled IGP means no Quick Sync. Since the price and specification differences between the models with IGP and the models without is so small, we recommend buying a model with the graphics as you never know when you might want/need Quick Sync or more video outputs. The 100MHz increase in frequency isn't worth the loss of the IGP".

I can never understand Intels theory in having IGP on the K series CPU's. Most people buying the K Series will do to overclock and those people would have discreet GPU even the 2600/2700K has the higher powered IGP That to me seems utterly pointless...

Obviously pointless CPUs are pointless, can't wait for ivybridge.

Oh no duh.....

I believe all 1155 CPUs should have an IGP of some form otherwise you end up with the silly situation that was 1156 where you could have a motherboard with video out ports but a CPU that could not display anything to them.

There is no real advantage to Intel not having an IGP on die apart from these chips that they want to flog that have a busted IGP.

Not utterly, users with Z68 boards and discrete GPUs can still benefit from Quick Sync.

Shame on intel

Celeron are crap processors. Even a i3 is better than a Celeron.

I can't believe that intel, are still making rubbish Celeron processors. I thought they were dumping them ages ago.

Shame on intel. :(
