Severe BT Connection Issues.

Since I woke up this morning around 10:30, I've had nothing but issues from my BT Infinity connection.

I was on the phone for well over an hour this morning, trying to get some kind of information regarding what was going on with my connection.

Essentially what happens is the following, the internet will go off and I'll get the flashing purple icon on the broadband icon on my BT Homehub 3, I can reset it and then wait and then maybe it'll come back on for a few moments and then again, it may not and essentially it'll flash purple then eventually come to a steady blue and then I'll try and connect to the internet, it'll load Google or whaetver and then the internet will disconnect again and rinse and repeat. I've been having to deal with this from around .. 6pm until now 7:24pm (and earlier on in the day for around the same length of time, 10:30-1:30pm), god knows how long it's going to stay online this time around.

I think the only thing that I got out of the foreign guy on the phone was that there is some kind of signaling error from the modem to the router or some crap like that.

Any one else experiencing trouble with BT Infinity as of recently and does anyone with a BT or an Engineer background know what may be causing this issue/s?

Thanks.

Having the exact same issue right now on BT Infinity in London! Either some moron has made an overnight config change at the exchange or its a system wide failure @ BT...since they outsourced most of their support overseas its time consuming/frustrating to get any kind of decent support if you live in the UK!

BT have a large outage right now due to either cable theft or 3rd party issues they say it will clear by 29/01/15

Thanks a lot for the information guys, it's very frustrating. This has been a big help, thank you very much.

Let's just hope that it all gets resolved soon, unfortunately, I don't have a backup internet and I work from home, so the internet is very much needed for myself. I've even got an Engineer coming out tomorrow, hopefully I get a free router out of it, if anything.

Still broken!

Same here, the whole of yesterday I was re-connecting/disconnecting in like a 5 minute pattern.

connection becomes stable > 30 seconds - 2 minutes of online time > disconnects and then rinse and repeat.

I've got the engineer coming out anytime between 8 and 1, so hopefully it'll get fixed and I'll try and get some information and post it here, in hopes that it'll help some of you guys and what not.

How you get an engineer out so fast? I've been waiting months and have yet another stupid line check arranged by service monitoring team for this Thursday when the admitted there was a fault with the copper leading into the house.

I was just very polite on the phone and very understand, he told me that there were two openings for a fibre optic engineer to come out and I chose the one earlier in the day to get it out of the way and what not, maybe it was just sheer luck to be honest.

He's come and he has seemed to of fixed the issue and reset my internet and what not, apparently the cabinet had a loose cable or something that was leading to my house, he refit it back into place so that it was in correctly. Apparently he told me that it was very loose and these things happen from time to time, it can happen with wind, damp, condensation and all **** like that.

I have been nothing but polite to them but my patience is wearing very thin. I can't game at all as I get disconnects within 10 mins. I guess you were just extremely lucky. Did you get through to an Indian call center?

Suggestion (dunno if it will help) but some of you might be near a BT phonebox/similar that carries their wifi signal? Opt in to BT-Fon and see if you can get the wireless signal? Don't know if it will be knocked out as well.

I'm on plusnet (ADSL) and my internet has just become VERY slow. Pings seem to be ok but speed is terrible. Youtube buffering all over the place and noticeable slow when browsing too. Checked connection rates on modem and they are all fine, still at 13Mbit.

Do plusnet use the same backhaul as BT?

I've been advised on another forum if I raised it as a phone problem (noise in the line ) that openreach would have treated it with more priority opposed to the dropline causing bb problems. Is there any truth to this?

Depends really. Noise on the line would mean a 'LL1' Engineer who's sole purpose is to make sure you can make and receive calls with no noise and you have a dial tone. If he can't find any issues then you're back to awaiting a broadband Engineer, known as an SFI or LL14 which is a specific Broadband Engineer.

BT retail servers are still the issue apparently  thats all I could find out other than BT are saying they have fixed this for all London customers but this is simply not the truth
