Sex Change Soldier

yup, put the phone down on "her" and sent all her stuff to her with a letter saying they had no child any more or something. All she wanted was to have someone as she lost everyone close to her.

Unfortunately for me she just looked like a Para in bad drag though :(

I believe that everyone has the right to pursue their own ends (within the boundries of accepted/civilised law) but sometimes it doesn't do you any favours.

Seen a bit of this tonight. Pitty about the parents tbh. As hard as it is for all of us to understand why the hell he did it, imagine being him. Hard enough being in the job he was in without his parents clearing.

Found it really interesting, and I think by the end of it after her facial surgery and everything else, you wouldn't think anything different about her in the street - maybe that she was a bit tall but nothing out of the ordinary. Her mannerisms, the way she walked, everything - all looked right. I've certainly known more manly women.

I find it really sad that some people have competely the wrong wiring - I was confused as to whether she liked men or women by the end of it despite her saying she wanted her ex to turn lesbian. God knows how she felt for 43 years.

And if by tranny you mean transvestite, rather than transexual, you're miles off the mark.

I foud it really good to watch, growing up i thought what weirdos would change sex, who would want that, why are people gay, its all sick etc etc

However, this guy was a para, he was a captain, he was married for 20 years. He was strog, tough, fit , healthy and had a lot going for him and done a lot for the british army and himself.

Yet he wanted to become a woman, he felt he always had wanted it.

Then at the end it mentioned he was abused right? For me; that is the answer. He has been mentally scarred so much that it made him not want to or not feel male all his life?

I liked how he wasnt a stupid diva or queen too, he dressed like a fashionable lady.

Usually id say god help us, for some reason in this case, i praise him. Whatever makes him/her happy then go for it.

Well i'm right on the mark. But thanks.

There have been so many of these shows it's getting silly. They want to be treated like normal people, yet they have tv shows about their lives. I dont have a TV show about my life. You know why? Nobody would watch it. Nobody would watch it because my life is unremarkable. I have people who dont like me. I have people who dont understand me. I make decisions people dont understand. So far my life sounds just like his/hers.

It's hypocrtical attention seeking. this one even sold the story to the paper.

She said that, at about 12, that she would dress up as a girl and go to the park. The abuser knew she was a boy, but still treated her like a women. Jan even said she practically consented to her abuse, as at least the abuser treated her as she felt inside, rather than the fact that he looked like a boy.

I don't think any particular environmental factors made her want to have a sex change - the wiring was just wrong from the start.

I think she had quite a remarkable life prior to making her decision; so I would say already your lives (sound) very different. I can't recall, either, seeing another programme about a transexual that was similar to this one - certainly there are plenty of them, but I think you're forgetting (or ignoring) what she did for a living, and indeed her age, before finally going through with it.

Did you actually watch the programme?

sure he said he used to go and meet someone when he was younger in the park, while he dressed as a woman and the guy made him feel right(as a woman), and then used to abuse/ take advantage of him.

beaten, damn uni work!

No i don't even know what we're talking about.

Yes i watched it. In it's entirety. I dont think s/he is any more special than anyone else.

Until someone convinces me that it's not hypocrtical instead of dancing around my points then my mind is unchanged.

Consider me damaged by your cutting sarcasm! I don't quite know how I'll make it through the evening.

Anyway... Special? I don't think special is the right term to be using here - I certainly don't think that special treatment is what Jan was after. Was it not because the army wouldn't treat her normally that it escalated to press coverage and TV programmes? Did you miss her obvious intelligence and awareness of her situation?

To be honest, I don't really care about changing your mind. Didn't you just completely dismiss her as a 'tranny' from the off?

Precisely, the whole "I was so unhappy as a man" thing just doesn't wash when the outcome leves that person even more miserable.

Maybe they hadn't got to the real root of their feelings/problems before undergoing surgery.
