Sexual Offences Act 2003 extended anonymity to victims of ‘sexual grooming’ amongst other offences. With the advent of the digital era, sexual grooming is becoming a more common offence and yet there appears to be legal difficulties in prosecuting sex crimes against children. What do you think are these difficulties?

i have to give a presentation about this as part of my law module next tuesday.

So far i have looked through my notes, textbook, and lecture slides which are put up by the teacher.

However i cannot find anything to do with it and i do not have a clue about what the difficulties could be. And seeing as how im doing sports journalism at uni i dont see how this relates to me:S

Can any help me out ? would be much appreciated

Kids pretending to be older than they are, and men not checking they are how old they say they are.

As in there must be genuine mistakes sometimes but they still end up being prosecuted.

Look at past cases, recent cases, academic opinions, through law journals, lawtel, westlaw, lexisnexis to start with. A law question answer is worthless without research, our opinions don't matter.

You should check out the CEOP web page, the team that deals with child protection where I word deal with these guys a lot.

Some of the major problems are things records of conversations are not made, parents not being involved in or aware of what their children are doing online so they aren't aware of a problem until its too late. Then you have things like pedophiles using proxies and various other technologies to make it a lot harder to track them.
