SF4 on PC release date announced.

I have been playing this a lot at work and fancy getting it for PC. I would get it on 360 but the ONLY thing wrong with the 360 pad is the D-Pad. So, what is the best PS2/PS3-esque controller to get for the PC for SF4?

A PS2 pad? I got a usb-Dualshock2 gamepad adapter online for about £3 delivered and a second hand dual shock 2 pad for £6. Works a treat!

PS1/PS2/PS3 controllers can be used on the PC with USB convertors and such.

Sega Saturn USB gamepad. Argubably the best pad for any sort of 2D games period. Great thing is these also work on the PS3.

StreetFighter IV Fightpads may work too as they are basically just a copy of the Saturn pads.

Probably been discussed to death already, but I've yet to play the game on consoles and I'm wondering, is the responsiveness really as good as it's 2D predecessors?

The gameplay hasn't been touched. It's still as fast and responsive as its predecessors, which is why everyone loves it. It's a faithful and worthy followup.

I'm thinking of buying it for the 360 myself, but that being said - do you guys honestly believe a game like Street Fighter can be ported successfully over to the PC?

I'm having doubts here, and I don't know if I should wait now for the PC version, or just go ahead and get the 360.

That being said, I wonder if they'll ever release Halo Wars on PC...

Well the PC version even when it will be using the Games For Windows Live service will not be online cross-compatible with the Xbox 360 which is a shame. So no doubt you'd probably be stuck with keyboard macro n00bs.

Only advantages as usual with a PC port is higher resolutions, the three exclusive filters and of course there could be mods and such.

Street Fighter IV is just as responsive as it's predecessors. I would say the only thing you will have to get used to is the 3D graphics on the 2D plane along with the animations and frames of the characters.

Thanks to the inclusion of a new technique, focus cancelling, i would go as far as saying the gameplay is quicker than its predecessors. Focus cancelling allows you to trade super attack bars in exchange for cancelling out the animation of a special attack. The result of this can be very elegant, one example would be doing a dragon punch, but cancelling the jumping animation, stepping forward and doing another dragon punch which catches them in the air before they've landed from the first attack.

An example would be:

At 1:50 look how he does a dragon punch to launch Dhalsim but doesn't actually jump in the air, then hits him with an ultra on his way down. The whole match is epic btw, well worth a watch.

There should not be a problem porting this to PC as there is nothing really to port. The arcade version of Street Fighter 4 runs on the Taito Type X² arcade system which is a PC based, running on a cut down version of Windows XP.
