sfc.exe /scannow ?

Hi. I have just done a sfc.exe /scannow scan and it came back with windows Resources protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

It says logs can be found in c:\windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

How ever I cant open it and says denied and a blank page. Any help?. Thanks.

restart the PC in safe mode and try the command again and it may fix them.

I had a laptop that was running 8.1 and had the above issues but the OS was also showing issues as I was unable to repair I done a OS re install.

what OS are you running?

as you can do a OS reset in 8\8.1 and keep all your files if you cannot repair the files

Hi. Thanks. I did the scan now test in safemode but no fix and still the same error. How ever I was able to open the text file in safemode and its pointing to windows update. I checked windows update and its stuck on check for updates no matter what option I check it on.

I think there is a repair tool to fix windows update issues.

If you got Windows 8/8.1. You can use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM).

'To use to fix Windows component store corruption when a SFC /SCANNOW command is unable to repair corrupted system files because the store (source) is corrupted, then run the SFC command again'.

Hi no I got windows 7 on. But it turned out to be razor cortex. yesterday I signed up for it and remember seeing in the bottom windows complaining about windows update but I thought nothing of it at the time. I just uninstalled Razor cortex and windows update came back on again. But the corrupt files are still there according to the scan?.
