As title really, I'm looking to build my first SFF computer, I have about £1000 to spend. I don't need an operating system (already got Vista HP), monitor, keyboard or mouse.

So Spec Me Please....

Excellent spec by s1ick, but if you're spending that much money, buy an (equivalently priced) Enermax, Corsair or Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro PSU.

They're all of better quality (than the OCZ) and should be quieter too.

I had an OCZ and it was fair better than the current corsair i have now with regards to solid voltage, the new Corsair requires .05 extra volts for the cpu to acheive the same oc.

I'll just add a few points I forgot to mention in the first post, ideally i would like it to be fairly quiet, I quite like the shuttle cases although I'm quite tempted by the look of the Lian-Li case suggested by S1ick.

Not that it makes much difference as most hardware is now geared towards 64-bit, but this build will be for Vista x64. And finally I wont be wanting to overclock this.

is it going to be used for gaming? video editing etc etc?

quiet isnt a problem it uses 2 120mm fans at the front to push air through.

I currently have one about the same as what ive speced u but with a tighter budget, and cooled by water. (already had the water components hence tighter budget)
Im using same board, E8500, same memory, 8800GTS as i already had one of these, 750gb Samsung F1 (would love 2 1tb in raid 0 tho)

wouldnt bother with that card then maybe a 4850 would suit u better. pop another tb of storage in there if your video editing.

If it's for video editing then the quad and a good amount of RAM will help the most. 4GB should be ample. :)

As S1ick said, there's no need to go crazy over a graphics card if you're not gaming. The 4850 should be more than enough, but you could go even lower than that if you want, maybe a nice second hand 8800GTX/GTS or even GT.
