I posted a note in the 50 series thread - then decided it was probably worth a thread to get some wider feedback.

To give some context:

I work away 1 week every 4 - and I stay in an apartment so I have my own space. Occasionally I'll bring my PC with me but it's a mid tower so it's not really that portable and occasionally I'll bring my PS5 with me - but I'm then limited to only being able to play games with a controller.

Every apartment I stay in has a desk as part of a workspace and I would bring my own keyboard, mouse and 165hz 1080p 24" monitor as I'm travelling for work and will plug those into my work laptop when needed.

I have a few 'left over' parts from previous PC builds and the last few days have been thinking more and more about putting together a 'portable' SFF build - but wanted to get some feedback on the direction to go.

Everything is going in a Ghost S1 case so there are limitations with the GPU size (2 slot max, 305mm max length) - but I'm really after some suggestions for what GPU to fit in with the rest of the build that would suit 1080p high'ish refresh gaming in titles like The Finals, 2042, BFV, Arc Raiders (whenever the full title releases) and the F1 games.

I'm considering the 4060, 5060, possibly even the 5070 or is that overkill? Likewise any AMD equivalent, I'm running the 9070XT in my main 'home' build and have been enjoying that a lot.

Rest of the build:

5800X3D (-25 on all cores & PPT, TDC and EDC all dropped to not go wild in the small case)
Noctua L12
DDR4 32GB CL16 3600
1TB Samsung Drive
SF750 PSU
1 slim 120mm Noctua fan in base as exhaust

possibly even the 5070 or is that overkill?
Yeah, but if you can afford one, why not? Take a look at the 9060 XT too, announced today.

The 4060 is nice for one reason: low power consumption of around 130 watts. Not sure what the 5060 or 9060 XT will be like.

5060 Ti 16GB is another option.

Don't know if losing 32-bit Physx on the 50x0 will matter in the games you play?

Cheers for this, definitely helps out.

Yeah - I was hoping to find a used 4070 Super FE as that would be ideal but they seem to be more expensive than the 5070 at the minute which is a shame.

No issue losing Physx (although I have enjoyed the 5080 vs. 980Ti comparisons) from the games, had a quick check but doesn't seem to impact the titles I play.

Might have more of a look into those ones mentioned, around 100 quid between the 60Ti and the 70 from what I've been able to see so far too.
