I have a thread in the general hardware section about this, being new to the forum and not seeing this one :(

Anyway, Im building a SFF PC for my Dad for christmas. Basically, I dont know whether to go for a Shuttle, and work from there, or the Sugo Evolution, and start at the bottom. So far, the Sugo is slightly cheaper, and is in the lead, mainly because I'm not tied to the Shuttles PSU or motherboard.

Which would you guys recommend?

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB)
Shuttle XPC SD37P2 Aluminium Barebones System - Intel Pentium D (LGA775)
7900GS or X1950Pro (Silent variety)
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM
Samsung SH-W183 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
1Gb (2X512Mb) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC6400 (800)

OR

SilverStone 'SUGO' Evolution SG01B Black Aluminium Small Form Factor Case
ASUS P5B-VM iG965
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 OEM 775, 1.86 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, Allendale Core, 2MB Cache, OEM
250 Gb Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE16
Samsung SH-S183A/BEBN Black SATA 18x18 ±R Dual Layer DVDRW Writer OEM
7900GS or X1950Pro (Silent variety)
Zalman CNPS8000 Ultra Quiet Low Profile CPU Cooler
500W Enermax Liberty Modular Series - ELT500AWT

I'd really like it to be as quiet as possible, and there is a slight possibilty that I'd OC the CPU a couple of hundred mhz if I could, without increasing the heat too much.

Like I said, they both work out at around £700, but its neither here nor there. The main question is, do I Sugo, or do I fly off with the Shuttle?

Yeah Ive been looking at pics of your build, and it looks freaking sweet :D Im seriously considering the Sugo over the Shuttle. It just seems a hell of a lot more configurable and sexier ;)

Re: motherboard, I'm not sold on ASROCK motherboards. Yes, the Asus is expensive, but to be honest, you get what you pay for in the computing world.

Is the Sugo quiet then? Did you buy the crossflow bar to go with it?

@Stephen B
What didn't you like about the Sugo then? What makes the shuttle better in your opinion? :)

Overclocking isn't much of an issue, as if it does get overclocked, it wont be by much anyway. The only reason im going for that CPU, is because its the cheapest of the new CoreDuo2's :)

That graphics card DOES look interesting, but I cant afford that AND 2gb's of RAM. It would be either or, and I'm not 100% convinced my Dad needs that much RAM. Specially since I'm only using 1Gb RAM atm!

Thanks for the advice, I'm really looking forward to the end result of this :)

@Tosk

Could you point out to me what case is which? They all look about the same size to me, the Sugo being shorter, but wider?

EDIT: I still think the Sugo is damn sexy :) And there isnt that much difference?

Hmmm, now I'm back to being undecided :D

Thanks though. I want to get this right, and luckally I've left plenty of time before Christmas comes around.

Thanks for the images btw Tosk! Extremely helpful. Whats your take on the Sugo compared to the Shuttle then?

Oh I didnt realise, thanks for that! :D

Thanks for the input :D

Just to ask, whats the difference between the 945 and 965 platform, other than the fact the 965 supports ddr2 800 RAM?
