Guys if it was down to me I would spend a fortune on a new PC for my son. The wife however has put the breaks on it and has allowed me a budget of £500.

Was looking for a reasonable Intel gaming small form factor PC.
Would need everything apart from an Intel cooler as I already have an H80i cooler and a GTX690 which both should give reasonable cooling and graphics for his 1st pc, I have an old 24" Samsung 2494Hm monitor he could have too.

I will have to buy him a Keyboard and mouse as well as an OS. Hopefully windows 10, so the money can go on the hardware and case stuff.

Bare in mind my son is only 10 but thinks he`s a gaming legend and it will be his first PC. So, do you have any suggestions ?.

I know a few have looked through this thread and non have replied as of yet, I'm still hoping that you fantastic people on here would be able to help. My son is ecstatic about getting a PC and I just hope you and I can do him proud.

£500 should be more than enough now you already have the GPU and monitor handy. The H80i is a bonus too as a decent cooler is still a few quid of the budget blown. How about looking at some of the OCUK motherboard /CPU bundles they do, you can save a few quid that way. Let your son choose his own case? I built a pc with my son over Christmas and he was made up with choosing his own case, one I wouldn't have picked out for him. Peripherals are pretty cheap, I picked up a wired keyboard mouse bundle for him that didn't break the bank. Storage might be a problem, I had a couple of old SSDs laying around so I saved on those. Try not to get emotionally attached to the build or you might end up spending more than planned ;)

If your on a budget id go the AMD route you will get more for your money and get an awsome gaming rig if your son wants gaming can't go wrong with AMD. Im not into gaming but have friends that are and they say AMD are decent for gaming
