Hi guys,

I'm moving from a full tower to an ITX so I can chuck it in my backpack and be a little more mobile.

I'd love some advice on components as I am out of the loop. It's just for gaming, no rendering or professional work or anything like that. No budget really, but I'm not looking for high end - rather the sweet spot for price/performance at 1440p, wherever that is.

No preference between AMD/Intel/Nvidia but components should ideally run cool given lack of airflow in the case, and to that end perhaps low power/under-volting options would suit. Ram should be boring and low profile.

Components I will feature in my build:
  • Case: FormD T1 V2 Sandwich
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L12S Low Profile CPU Cooler
  • Case Fans: 2x Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM Chromax Black Fan - 120mm

Anyone able to advise on the rest?

Thanks in advance!

Well the FormD is pretty versatile for SFF so really you're limited by your budget in terms of graphics card. Probably the sweet spot for 1440p is around a 6700XT/3060Ti/3070Ti.

As for CPU, i'd probably look at something that won't cook itself under a low profile cooler. If you don't mind a dead-end socket then maybe a Ryzen 5700X with a B550 motherboard would do you fine at that resolution. The problem with going AM5 is that the entire platform is a complete rip-off.

As for Intel in SFF, you can either wait and see what comes for 13th gen in lower power draw or get something from the outgoing 12th series like a 12400/12500/12600. Those are six core and should be fine with that cooler.

RAM would likely be something like Corsair Vengeance LPX for compatibility.

Good looking case to build in. The main problem is availability and cost of mini-itx boards.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,144.92 (includes delivery: £0.00)

I have chosen it all as its just gaming focused, The ram is tall but it has removable heat spreaders on the top of them. Expensive ram but really tight timings for peak performance.
6750xt is only £20 more expensive than the 6700xt with about 7% performance uplift.
The rog board can be had slightly mroe expensive at other retailers. AM5 its is even more expensive and unavailable. B660 itx seem to be about £200 as well
