SFF on This Week Only

Seems to be a bit of a strange thing with the pricing on the page

(TWO page says £829, item page says £905 both ex vat)

Either price looks a steal for what you get but I would be worried about things getting toasty also

Ahh the Sugo!

This has been tested at a higher overclock, overclock with the graphics card and the whole case covered in a coat while running 3dmark + Intel burn test and the system did not start throttling.

I would go as far as saying that this system is one of the better overall systems for "ruggedness" that we currently do.

I had the system overclocked to 4.5GHz with a clock on the 4870 X2 and I got 22000 in 3dmark2006, that was done with a 2x YS Tech case fans mind but the system is capable of more than what is advertised. Obviously we have to worry about longetivity and supporting the system hence the (relatively!) conserative overclock.

Good system, runs a little hotter on the CPU but thats down to a smaller cooler, the motherboard runs cooler than it would normally due to the design of the CPU cooler though so its swings and roundabouts. Certainly a stable machine thats for sure.

Also it does have a 12month warranty on the whole build and we will collect the machine if there are any issues.

Only thing we do advise is to keep a bit of space by the two large side vents and not to obscure the top two exhausts. Goes without saying. :)

Thats good to hear, a potential purchase me thinks.

I dont suppose there are any screenies to be seen are there Yewen?

I only have a cameraphone picture of the rig unfortunately as it was undergoing a vantage benchie run. Very rare to have pictures requested!

Can do you some of my own older Sugo rig if you want to get a general feel, not to the same level as this beasty though as I do not use my rig for gaming anymore. Just got a 8800 Ultra in it.

Its a standard Sugo from the exterior, nothing been done to the case on these as they are very classy as they come out of the box. If it ain't broke don't fix it and all that!

What you want to know?

The reason for wanting pictures is to see what it actually looks like inside. As I mentioned earlier, it packs some good kit, but I was concerned about the heat, given that there is limited space in the case anyway, and with that amount of kit. You have answered the questions on the heat issue, just need to make sure that it isnt too crowded inside.

A friend of mine has a SUGO already, so I have an idea of what they are like.

What was the noise like during that vantage benchmark? I know noise is subjective but still....

It is not silent unfortunately, but it is far from a hair dryer! At full tilt it is audible but not noticeable when gaming with it at ear height 20 cm away. :p

It is a little crowded but thats normal for SFF, the card is in its own section and the CPU has nothing around it.

We have mounted the hard drive in a Zalman anti-vibe mount under the DVD drive so we can tidy all of the excess cables well out of the way. One of the reasons that has made this system actually work. :)

Even when you make the system output over 100deg on the CPU the system still copes perfectly fine.

If it's anything like a Shuttle, it's not the noise that's annoying. It's the revving of the fan that drives me mental :)

that the Shuttle CPU cooler

these use propper Zalman CPU cooler so should have that issue.

Have you guys tried this setup in the SG-03 a little more room maybe

Its on the list, unfortunately have a couple of other rigs under development first. ;)

Yewen would be nice to know exactly what price is being charges as per my original post.......

Ahh sorry guy missed that bit.

£1063.35 inc VAT is the correct price including operating system, appears to be missing the case price off the original price for some reason. Will look at it tommorrow so it displays correctly.

How did you get that to overclock to 4Ghz? I must be doing something seriously wrong as I have the exact same case and mobo yet my E8600 is @ ~45 degrees at stock speed - i would've said minus a gfx card air flow would be great in the case but there is a gfx card. Any chance of a pic of it?

reseat your heatsink - check the amount of thermal paste - but really 45 degrees isn't that hot. OK you probably won't be pushing it to 4GHz safely but its not hot.

I had a lengthy problem thread when i finished the build at the end of august about how idle temps were at around 60 degrees! I replaced the supplied Intel heatsink with an old spare Intel heatsink (slightly bigger and with fresh thermal paste) which cut temps down to the temps i get now (45 idle).

I then came to the conclusion, despite knowing that i only had a stock cooler, that the case was the limiting factor and was going to buy the Lian Li V350 around xmas however after having seen this thread its made me rethink. Depending on cash at xmas i may water cool though.
