Hello,

I've just finished building myself a nice little Media PC : Core i3 540, Asus mATX motherboard, 2GB Ram, 2TB Western Digital HDD and Samsung Blu-Ray drive; all housed in a nice shiny CIT S003B case with 300W PSU.

It's more or less perfect except with one 'minor' issue, the PSU is bloody loud!

Can anyone recommend a SFF PSU to fit in my case that is virtually silent (fanless would be ideal but probably too expensive) and reasonably priced?

TIA!
Nick

Thanks!

That Be Quiet one looks ideal, reasonably priced too; though is it properly quiet? I read a review somewhere that it gets quite noisy under high load?

It also looks suspiciously identical to the silverstone SFX PSU, so I imagine they're made by the same company.

Hi Nick,

I am considering the same case for the price-point and 3 hard drive storage potential.

How did you do with quietening down the system? I am very concerned about noise.

Cheers,

Alex

I know its an overpriced solution, but I heard the corsair gold series, the fans only spin up until after 400W, so technically it would be fanless in your system plus you got the added benefit of gold efficiency so in the long term you would be saving money via electric bills. Plus 7 year warranty is a nice plus. Completely modular too which would help with cable management etc.

I'm going to recommend a shuttle PSU but also tell you that I have 2. One is virtually silent, the other is a screamer. Clearly not all 40mm fans are created equal ;)
