I've been using a 1st gen mac mini with several external USB drives as a main home file server, which also enables me to run/schedule various client software/serve web/ssh/ftp.
It's actually done me pretty well and been operating for 5+ years 24/7 - if the latest gen of mac mini were so ridiculously expensive I'd probably just upgrade, but I think a change of direction(OS) could be fun -
So I was contemplating the revo r3700 running ubuntu 10.x but would appreciate anyone else's thoughts/set-ups etc -
The only requirements are as follows -
Small and quiet
Linux/Unix based
4+ USB ports
Cheers, Paul.
