SG-05 gaming PC?

I'm going to a LAN for the first time in years and I'm thinking of building a small PC for it. I was just going to take my laptop but it's a bit slow, and I don't fancy lugging my Cosmos S with me.

I was looking at the SG-05, because it's small, but... really, case and spec suggestions welcome!

I'll be gaming at 1080p and performance doesn't need to match the GTX 970/i5-4690 in my main PC, but it'll need to be able to play a decent game of BF4. The GTX 660m in my laptop isn't quite up to the job.

I've also never built anything smaller than matx before, so advice on cooling would be welcome too!

Thanks.

I have an SG05 and love it.

Cooling wise I'm happy with my H60 and can recommend them.

You obviously lose your dvd tray though but who cares?

The SG05 has a ODD info... What I don't get is those cases that are big like the SG13 with no ODD tray, if I have a thing that size a ODD should be in it... A Element Q has a none slim ODD & that thing is small... If they had a dual slot version, I so would get one...

If I decide to do this it'll have to have a slimline blu-ray drive in it, so does that mean air cooling only? I've never actually water cooled anything and I'm a bit nervous about about doing that in any case.

The best place for info on this case is the SG05 owners club.

Just search for it on google.

I have a h80, slim bluray and 970 in my sg05. Had to remove the hdd cage off bottom of the optical mount but then my ssd sits on the floor under the radiator without issue. Might Velcro it on.

I mounted the aio sideways so it would fit and I have the itx version of 970 so it is shorter. I also have a 3.5 hdd mounted along the opposite side to the graphics card, bit if a squeeze though.

My SG05 also has a H60 in it. However because I also have a GTX Titan in there I had to mount the H60 vertically because the GPU takes up the entire length of the case, so no space for the end tanks if the H60 rad is horizontal. That, in turn, means I removed the optical drive tray and all the hard drive fittings.

I have my SSD and 2.5" drive in a dual 2.5" caddy that's glued on the underside of the PSU - flipped the PSU to have the fan point upwards giving me a nice flat base to mount the caddy.

I have room for push/pull if I want, or a thicker rad like the H80. I can also wedge in some more 2.5 inch drives on the case floor or the opposite side of the Titan if need be.

Love this case!

I have an SG05 with GTX 670 (262mm) and H60 V2 in it... however I'm currently in the process of selling it because I need to add more storage and there isn't enough space. Currently have two 2.5" drives loose on the floor under the radiator.

It's a great case, well built and designed and absolutely tiny... really depends on your usage case though.

If you want to use the optical drive, you won't be able to fit an AIO cooler though and you're limited to 82mm for air coolers unfortunately.
