I'm picking up an OEM i7 2600 to go in my SG05 SB build.

What CPU cooler would be recommended to go in this to keep it nice and quiet?

Looking at one of the Scythe Shuriken's at the moment

The Corsair H50/H60 or equivalent Antec Kuhler 620 will fit but you may have to modify the drive cradle. I'm looking at fitting one in mine.

I think the only real option for a decent air cooler is the Scythe Shuriken that you mentioned and is a popular choice with this case.

Cheers, can't really be bothered messing around trying to get it to fit.

What sort of difference is there between the Shuriken and Shuriken Big? Do they both fit?

Not done a great deal of research into the shuriken tbh but from what I've seen both will fit.

If you did consider the H50 there is a guide on corsairs website http://forum.corsair.com/upload/h50minipc.pdf. It can be fitted without modifying but you do need to use a 2.5inch hard drive and lose the 3.5inch.

here's a pic of the Rev.B shuriken fitted:

Cheers, think I'm going for the Scythe - although it looks a little tight over the RAM for the Big to fit. I've only got normal height RAM, but will try and find out if it will fit.

I would check if the cooler would contact a graphics, depending on your motherboard and socket position. That's if you intend to fit a graphics card.

Also check out the Thermalright AXP 140RT and the Silverstone NT06E.

What Bane says about the graphics card is worth noting too. I couldn't get my NT06E to fit (by about 1mm) because the heatpipes would have touched the graphics cards PCB.

I've gone with the Scythe Big for now, I'll wait and see. I'm on using the onboard gfx for a while. I can always get a different later if I need to.

Ended up changing my mind and switching my order to the Rev.B.

Installed it today, and the position of the CPU socket on the H67 boards means that even this covers the PCIe slot.

I'm not planning on getting a graphics card just yet, so it's not an issue. But I'm almost certain you wouldn't get one to fit with the Rev.B, and I assume the Big would be the same.

Ok, so I'm now looking at picking up a passive PCIe card - so I need to replace the cooler with something smaller that will allow this.

I'm happy with the noise and performance of the Shuriken - but it needs to be smaller!

Currently thinking he Corsair H60 or Antec Khuler 620, but need to research more into if it will fit or not...

Thermalright AXP-140 and a slim fan (like the one on the Rev.B) will fit and I can confirm it does not block the PCI-e slot on a GA-H67N-USB3 which seems to have one of the closest CPU sockets of any ITX board.

Suprised to hear that the Rev.B covered the PCI-e slot as most people say that they have no problems with that on the old Gigabyte H55N and the newer H67 boards either.

Seems as though the Corsair and Antec coolers will fit with a bit of messing about. I might even be able to mount them on the outside of the case

Anyone know how quiet they are compared to the Scythe?

Please forgive the threadjacking but can an SG05 owner confirm if it is possible to fit a 2nd 2.5" on the floor in front of the mobo or even two? I think I will need one HDD and 2 SSDs and am looking for locations.

Thinking maybe to move SSDs to floor and mod the HDD bracket to move it up a little and improve airflow
