SG31G2 Noise !!

Just built up a SG31G2 for a media center and I am very dissapointed with how noisey it is :mad:

Problem seems to be the PSU but I'm not sure the 40mm fan is the only problem
IMO 40mm fans should not be any part of a quit PC

Anyone managed to quieten down one of these PC's ?

So far I'm pleased with the performance just the noise and ultra bright power LED's Issues

Disconnect the LED cables from the mainboard.

My mate has a shuttle and he had to buy another psu & fan to get it to be quiet

Yes Led problem is simple enough..

PSU is a bugger as in early building I took the PSU apart as I don't think all the noise is from the Fan...some sort of hum/buzz from the (switch mode circuit) I'm guessing, did Your friend go for a PC50 ?, looks like they have 2 40MM fans but are thermostatically controled

My SG31G2 is very quiet. What graphics card are you using, and what hard drives?

Well I suppose the point is "quiet" has different meanings to everyone !
The system is pulling 90W total from the 250W PSU, thats not heavy Loading.

I've ordered a PC50 which claim to be silent...I will see

Maybe I'm comparing to Ideqs which I really think are better in lots of areas compared to the Shuttles

I really think you should look at other components before the PSU. I really mean that the PSU on my shuttle is near silent to start with, the main culprite for noise is the fan on the ICE, harddrive and gfx card.
