SGDQ 2014

How can they really top last years Tetris stuff (in particular the end credits clear) unless they get some Japanese players over?

Love watching these, some of the N64 runs with the little tricks they've got over the year are amazing. I just can't stand the cringe worthy commentators!

This SGDQ has been a bit boring for me. There are too many retro games that I'm not interested in. The upcoming European Speedster Assembly on 23rd July looks way better - lots of Half Life, Quake, Tomb Raider stuff that's been absent from SGDQ.

The ESA schedule is up

Lots more interesting games than SGDQ.

The problem with SGDQ/AGDQ is the 8-bit era. Over in the USA, it was NES, NES, NES from 1985 to 1990. Over here it was Spektrum/C64 and the Amiga. We were playing awesome Amiga games for years, while they were still playing far inferior NES titles. They never had the joy of IK+, Wizball, or Last Ninja 2.

Yeah, I think half the fun of these speedruns is the fact you know the game, you know how you played it and therefore can be impressed when someone comes along and does it fast. I never owned a console until the 360 as I was a C64/Amiga/PC boy so all those NES/PS1 titles they run at SGDQ doesn't do anything for me at all.

Plus the fact that we are almost on the same time zone as ESA in Sweden means the best games are shown in the evening rather than 2am in the morning.

Man you should have led with the no archives thing as I would have watched the first few runs :p

Its so bad, its good - I swear Im watching early 90s TV - its amateur Bad Influence with that northern bloke that played GTA something

EDIT: Found the Neogaf thread for this, be funny to see the *GDQ comparisons :p

So all over what were the great runs?

I really don't know. I dipped in and out but there didn't seem to be anything spectacular that I saw. The one I probably liked the most was the Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light run as they managed to squish themselves through all the locked areas saving bundles of time.
