Hello,

I've recently become the happy owner of a Galaxy SII. I would like to get a 32 GB Micro SD card for it, but am unsure of what class of memory card to buy for it.

Ideally I'd like to be able to install apps, keep music, films and photos on it without degrading performance by increasing read/write times.

When looking at memory cards to purchase, I've seen class 4s quite cheap, with class 8 and 10s being more expensive. If I purchased a slower class 4 card, would the phone perform slower than it would using a class 10 card, or are the R/W speeds of these cards faster than a GSII needs?

Also, once I have the card, is it possible to move apps from the phone's internal memory onto the card?

Cheers

I recently went from a class 4 to a class 10 card in my phone and noticed it was quicker to view my photo album, but I didnt see any difference in the genral performance of the phone.

You can move some appps to the SD card, but there are some that will only install on the phones internal memory...

Get a well known brand and avoid ebay specials.

The one below is the one I'm using in my SGS2. Fast transfer speed and it's been reliable.

Lexar 32GB Micro SDHC High Speed Card with Reader - Class 10 Extreme Speed
£26.99 - Rainforest

Honestly you will barely notice the difference jumping classes. Just get something that will decently write at the speed you require (so in this case 1080p write speed) and you're golden. Class 4 is probably fine.

I agree class 4 is fine for everything - but is slow for copying lage file to the memory card like 10GB's of video - that's where the writes speed make most use.
