I've got a superhub 2 downstairs and had tried to use powerline to extend wifi to the top floor in addition to 2 powerline plugs for ethernet. Coulnt get them working so returned them this lunch time.

Just got back with a belkin N600 DB modem/router which states on the box that its for ADSL phone connections. Didnt notice this in the shop....

I had planned to put the superhub into modem mode and then go via powerline to the top floor of my house, into the N600 then out by CAT5 to my PC and also provide wireless internet.

Have I ballsed this up and got the wrong sort of router?

Im really starting from scratch with 2 routers etc so please go easy with tech talk at this point!

Thanks

The box says ports are:

1 WAN (ADSL2)
1 LAN
1 USB

So, with the WAN port, can i connect it ok?

Appreciate the heads up with the make. Ill see if i can get it to work, if its not exceptional, ill take it back tomorrow!

Recommendations for a better piece of hardware from ocuk?

I have the top one but the top port is grey.

strange as the box says in ports that there's a WAN!

Ill get this taken back!

So, i need a cable router that does wi-fi! How does a Netgear N600 sound?

^^ Thanks for the recommendation, ill get one ordered!

As far as options go, whats your thoughts on using this at the end of a powerline to run my PC and wi-fi at the top of the house (3 storey) with internet being pumped from the superhub 2 which gives poor wi-fi but fine BB speeds around the house?

Is there a better way to use the one you linked?

Thanks for everyone's input here so far!

I wish! Could perhaps get away with running from 1st to 2nd floor.
Speeds from ground floor are circa 60meg,
1st floor 40-50 meg
2nd floor 20-30 meg!
