ShadowGrounds

I tried the demo a few weeks ago and its very dated with limited gameplay and little replay value. Gfx are about 3 years old. Best thing I can say about it is that it runs well on modern hardware.

Origin Systems released 2 very similar PC only titles called Crusader No Remorse & Crusader No Regret back in 1995 + 1996 which were a very similar type of game with 2D gfx instead + a few basic puzzles here and there.

When Shadowgrounds comes out on budget for £10 or less I would consider it but for now its too much for the dated technology.

Or you could look at it from the point of view that its effectively a modern version of Alien Breed, which is always a good thing in my book :) I played the demo a while back and i actually quite liked it.

Really fun little game - if you take it at face value I don't think you will be disappointed...

Obviously like Alien Breed on the Amiga - the game isn't huge but will take a while to complete some nice graphics and weapons in there as well and the aliens just keep coming...

If you liked Alien Breed you'll love this...

Very good demo, loved it, and I admit, I got scared a coupla times :( Like when there were loud noises ;)

Well i have to say i actually played the whole game & it was fun.
There is a story (not the best though) which is told through cutscenes.
It is quite a bit like Alien Breed & the atmosphere as stated above can be pretty good at times. You have about 12 weapons which you can upgrade 3 different ways. There are no ingame saves though, just checkpoints with 5 lives per scene. That wasnt an issue for me, as i got through every level with those 5 lives anyway. There are some "boss" enemies through the game too. The first one was kind of hard as you had pretty week weapons. Its kind of like a top down shooter really. THe muisic is quite good (& changes depending on your circumstances) as are the sound effects. I originally got it to play something different to the FPS i normally play. It fit the bill quite well.
