I have this odd problem with my car for the last few weeks where when I go over about 120kmph the steering wheel shakes, however it only happens for about 10 minutes after I set off from cold, after that it completely goes away. Any ideas what could be causing it? Car is a Mitsubishi Shogun. I have checked tyre pressures.

stop speeding, problem solved. :p

I would guess brakes discs though, possible surface contamination/rust causing a temporary sticking point.

For this sort of problems I'd usually say it was due to wheel balancing being off but if it completely goes away after 10 minutes then I'm not sure.

In situations like this I usually get 4 wheel laser alignment & wheel balancing just to rule out the simple stuff - Those jobs don't cost much.

I would have a guess at something to do with the heat and rubber bushes as you are in Dubai.

I have the same thing, but I'm yet to get the tracking done.
It's not as bad now when I reach 140 as it was when I just had the tyres fitted..

I'd suggest to do the tracking and rebalance the wheels and see what happens.
Although could someone explain how tracking could cause this?

Tracking makes the car pull to one side, not vibrate i thought.

Unless its the alignment thats out.

How do misaligned wheels cause vibrations through the steering wheel?

Well i dont know the technicalities but i would guess the vibration goes from wheels to steering rack to steering column to steering wheel.
