Is there anyway to make this lowly X600 Faster??? ive put a 80mm fan blowing onto the hsf (it was passive rofl) and now it clocks at 500/300 from 400/250 but its lame and my brother keeps moaning at me, anyway to unlock any extra pipes in this thing or shall i just bin it and get him another pci-e gfx card, he only has a

2800+ a64 (754)
1024gb ddr400 (3-3-3-7)
120gb hdd
*cough* x600
and the usual other stuff............................

Foxor TIA!!!!!

i dont think you will see much improvement going up to a 6600gt or a x700

what about a X800XL, is that in your price range?

You could sell the X600 on an internet auction site. £88 will get you a PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO 128MB, or £111 gets you the 256 meg version. You could get anything upto £50 for the X600 at auction.

If it was me I'd go for the 256 meg X800 GTO.

You could have a go at overclocking the CPU for him, the 2800's overclock quite nicely.

This would be the card to get IMO....
PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO16 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-055-PC) Price: £109.95 (£129.19 Including VAT at 17.5%)

It performs the same as an X800XL as it has the extra pipes unlocked (from 12 standard to 16) & yet is cheaper than other X800XL cards. BTW a mate of mine has one & its clocked past X850XT PE speeds.

I'd suggest getting rid of the X600 immediately, but not by putting it in the bin. Sell it on and look at getting an X800 or a 6800GS the improvement would be huge! Like has been said, have a look at clocking the CPU a little aswell, every little helps so they say.

Epox EP-8NPAJ nForce4 4X <- this exact board. and the budget is £100 MAX, maybe more at the end of the month. he just wants to play need for speed most wanted its absolutly XXXX with the x600 u can hardly drive theres a delay on the left right movement lol + a few other fps's (hl2 fc halo)

XFX GeForce 6800 XT Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT42E-UDE3) (GX-067-XF) - £93.94

Comes in under budget and would be alright, but if you look around you should be able to find some rpetty decent cards for the £100 mark.
