Hello!

My first post on overclockers :)

I don't have too much money at the moment and I would like to replace my 5770 with a decent graphic card, all I do is game on the computer, no animating. My budget is about £130-£150.

The HD6870 is the card that appeals to me the most. Do yall think this is a good replacement at that budget?..I'm not sure if I know of any better at that kinda budget.

I got one 22inch wide screen. I would like to play most top title video games coming out (e.g. Company of Heroes 2, Planetside 2, Borderlands 2) and of course would like to play them as a high settings as possible but am happy to play at medium graphic settings if it gives me smoother play.

Here's my computer:

Motherboard - Asus Maximus II Formula
RAM - 8GB Gskill
CPU - Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700
CPU Cooler - Corsair(H5O)
Graphic Card - XFX HD5770XXX 1GB
Hard Drives - Seagate 320Gb
Seagate 320GB
Seagate 500Gb
Seagate 500GB
PSU - 1050w

DVD writer - Samsung 22XBlack Lightscribe
The case is a Coolermaster HAF 932

i agree with the 7850,i went from 5770 to 5870 to a 7850 and out of the three the 7850 is the quietest coolest running

Sorry but you wouldn't see much difference i changed to a 7850 from a 5770,
The 6 series is basically the same as the 5xxx series re-badged with new architecture.
Don't waste your cash go for the 7850 or at least do some comparisons an read up on the 6870 vs 7850.

second hand 69502gb/6970 with some warranty left is where my money would go £100 for a 6950 £140-£150 ish for a 6970 seems obtainable otherwise makes sense to go for a 7850 unless you can find a brand new 6950 for under £140 or 6970 under around £165.

Gotta love the 3 year warranty on gigabytes too added to which a uk based rma service.

£170 for a 6970,you might aswell put the extra n grab a 7850,they use a lot less voltage and don't get half as hot

That's fantastic! Well it looks like I'm gonna buy myself the gigabyte 7850

Psu looks dubious in that system. Who would pair a quality 1000w psu with a 5770?

I bought this computer off a friend, the 1050w PSU was a replacement of an old PSU that failed him. The PSU is of a pretty high quality, he just wanted to make sure he got the best of the best and no further failures would happen. It is a bit overkill...
