Shall I upgrade 780ti to 980ti?

Im in same boat and leaning towards a used 980ti. If buying both new I would probably go 1070 but a used 980ti vs new 1070 has a big price difference for not much extra performance.

Yeh but people want £300 for a used 980ti just because they paid £600 for it 2 years ago.

More crazy than that, people actually seem to be buying them.

I had pre-ordered the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Hybrid for my bulldog build. EVGA EU website was going to charge me 539 euros. Instead I cancelled my pre-order (too impatient) and my EVGA 980ti Hybrid arrived about an hour ago. Saved myself over £100 and doubt I'll notice the difference at 1080p (Lounge TV)

I also had a 780ti and 780ti SLI. AT 1080p even a single one will breeze most games, so a cheaper 980ti will destroy them.

Out of curiosity, what Temps are you getting on your hybrid?

I've had the Titan Scythe pc for the last 2 years with the Gigabyte windforce 780ti card. I'm just curious if a. Is it worth me upgrading to something like a 980ti/1070, or will I not really see any difference to merit the upgrade?

I upgraded from a 780 Ti to a Maxwell Titan X (980 Ti with more VRAM) and the upgrade made a huge difference. I then upgraded to SLI. :) Do note that I game at 4K so many games were VRAM-limited on my 780 Ti.

1070 will mean you can use your current PSU. GTX 980 Ti is a massive power hog you may need a newer PSU with more amps if you for that.

Get the 1070 is newer tech more VRam & around 100W lower power draw=lower heat so cooler case.

They are £300 new now though.

Should be £200 used really, unless you're talking one of the top end models.

It's certainly been interesting seeing people paying £300(+) for used 980ti's of late when new ones aren't much more expensive on the NVidia supported eol price reductions. For me the lack of being the original owner re any warranty issues alone would push me to buying new for the sake of £30-60 over a £300 used price.

I'm not convinced its worth £70 more though. You can get a decent 980TI for under £300 on the OcUK store. The cheapest decent 1070 is £368.

Performance difference is negligible. Length of support is negligible.

e; those 980TI's have gone now, so the price difference is now less than £40. Never mind... :p
