Shall I upgrade?

I am also in the bandwagon with the people suggesting to wait a few days. You have nothing to lose. The 970 is tempting but i think a price drop is imminent if amd plays its cards right

CPU seems fine tbf, upgrade gpu to 780/970

your psu will be fine if you go nvidia, r9 290 it wont be

so keep that in mind when choosing which to go for

Get the GPU with the highest vram, it will be better for you in the long run if your not a serial up-grader.

Psu would be down to budget or what your willing to pay for one, getting a higher Psu again will last you longer (if it don't break) and will get more use out of it in the long run as it will be some thing that carry's over to each build.

I'd get a 970 as well if I were you. Similar performance to the 290x and saves you the hassle of having to buy a new PSU. Only thing you'll lose out on is 0.5GB of vram, which at 1080p you won't need anyway.

More than likely 970 will not see a price drop with new amd models. From past experience what amd had to offer is rebrands of previous gens.

970 is very power efficient, my strix has only 1 6+2 pcie power pin, along with haswell/canyon you are laughin with 500w bronze-gold psu

I would put aside some money for a 256Gb SSD, in addition to the one you have now. Games are talking up more space and you might be struggling if you have a 120Gb for OS and games..

And i wasnt wrong with rebrands. 7970 is stupidly cheap and not miles behind of current 3 series equivalent. Get 280x job done, oc if required

Almost identical build, and actually came on the forum to ask something similar :P
I have a HD 7870, it's alright. Would like something a little more powerful though.
