Was very lucky to see him live with The Pogues many years ago. Fantastic lyricist with a certain quality to his singing! He certainly lived his life

A quick Google found this tune I've not heard for years, which I expect many aged 30+ will recognise part of...

I had a good day in my life when I first heard that song, I couldn't get it out of my head for the rest of that week. Whenever I hear it brings back memories of that day. I'll never get an opportunity to thank Shane for that song.
I saw that pic of him in hospital too, I thought what others here have said as well. His legacy will be that Xmas Song with Kirsty, her death was tragic too.
I'll sign this post off with one of his classics along with the dubliners.
