It is, yea. I did this for a while since I didn't have a router for some time so the xbox had to share the broadband with the PC using the USB modem. Took a bit of faffing around to get the internet connetion sharing tweaked in Windows but worked flawlessly once it was setup. :)

pretty much, but you will have to set it up on your pc. Either with a network bridge or internet connection sharing. I used a network bridge, basically you just select your wireless and wired connection on your pc and choose bridge. You might have to give the bridge its own IP too...

Internet connection sharing with my 360 gave no end of hassle.

I bridged the connections and its been working flawlessly.

This was with Vista.

I haven’t tried the bridging route but ICS was a nightmare for me aswell I couldn’t get the NAT open at all on the Xbox which you need it to be open to play on Live, I simply purchased an Netgear 5 port hub for £20 it works flawless :D

Just bought an xbox myself last week. Have a wireless connection on my main pc, and my xbox sits next to that. Similar situation to yours, didn't want to fork out for an adapter.

Shared my connection, plugged the cables in, and it was as simple as that. Happy i saved myself 50 quid :)

because this is what ICS is specifically for.

No. ICS is for sharing a WAN connection. Not for sharing an already NAT'd connection.

Sure it may work, but if you knew how the bridge concept worked you would understand it's a simpler and more effective solution.
